United Kingdom: Le Cordon Bleu

London 2004 - 2005

Another year living abroad. I attended Le Cordon Bleu, the culinary institute. I chose London over Paris because I was too lazy to learn French :p
It was a year full of fun. Even though I didn't really have time to explore other cities. My schedule was packed with cooking class and part time job as a barista at AMT coffee bar and also my dance class.
Gosh how much I miss my busy life in London :(

Review: Coto Makasar

These are some signature dishes from  Makasar, south Sulawesi.

Konro Bakar
Konro Bakar is  grilled beef ribs served with peanut sauce. The meat is tender and juicy and had been marinated with some spices before they grill it. Peanut sauce tastes a bit sweet but it goes well with the meat.

Coto Makasar
Coto Makasar is beef stew that includes cow’s intestine parts, served with beef broth. Sometimes they add peanut sauce too. The broth tastes very rich in herbs and coconut milk. Drizzle little bit of lemon juice and chili sauce to your liking. Then eat with ketupat (rice cake), very delicious combination.

Es Palu Butung

Es palu butung is a dessert which contain steamed banana, sugar syrup in banana or cocopandan flavour. Then added some coconut milk and crushed ice. It's a bit too sweet for my taste buds but very refreshing to tone down the rich flavour of coto makasar and konro bakar.

Short trip to Thailand in 2002 and I can't really remember which places that we've been to. It was too long ago and I only have very few pictures here. As far as I remember, we visited Bangkok, Pattaya and some other places. I'll try to find more pics to scan and upload here....
