Review: Sawah Indah Restaurant

When visiting Ubud, most tourists tend to choose very popular restaurants such as Bebek Bengil Restaurant or Babi Guling Bu Oka. But this time I’d like to share an alternate interesting place for dining with affordable price.
Sawah Indah Restaurant, located in the middle of beautiful rice fields and quiet environment at Jalan Raya Goa Gajah, just slightly outside downtown Ubud.

one of the huts

There are several comfortable huts for dining and also a fishing pond, for guests who like fishing and later the fish will be cooked as requested by guest. There are also some fun outbound facilities to be enjoyed with family or friends; like rice fields tracking, or playing pillow fight over the muddy rice field.

Gurami Timbung
The special menu is Gurami Timbung. A unique cooking method where the gourami fish is cooked inside a timbung / bamboo stems along with special spices, cassava leaves and long beans. It tastes a bit spicy though….

Ikan Bakar Lalah Manis

Udang Bakar Lalah Manis
Ikan Bakar Lalah Manis and Udang Bakar Lalah Manis, which are grilled fish and grilled prawns with sweet and spicy sauce, also worth to try.

Ikan Goreng Pedas
Young Coconut
Ikan Goreng Pedas is a crispy and tasty fried fish with sweet corn and sliced chilies.  The flavor is yummy combinations of salty, sweet and spicy. All the fish dishes are served with 2 kinds of sambals which are sambal merah (red chili paste) and sambal matah (sliced red onion, garlic, chilli and lime). Eaten along with hot rice and young coconut ice for drink…. too delicious I can’t stop eating. Diet? What diet? :p

Ayam Goreng (Indonesian Style Fried Chicken)

Lele Goreng (Fried Catfish)

Besides fish the other options are chicken or duck dishes, fried rice, fried bananas and many more.
