Travel Updates: Iceland & Greenland

So finally back to south east Asia! I'm staying in Singapore right now for a week before flying back to my lovely home country, Indonesia. I had my best 2 weeks travelling to Iceland and Greenland. The beauty was beyond my wildest imagination. Ahhh....I really want to go back there, preferably soon! So here's the recap and some highlights of my trip...

Denmark
Couldn't be happier to land in Copenhagen after a long weary flight from Jakarta-Singapore-Copenhagen. Experienced a severe turbulence over the Bengal strait which caused my plane dropping some feet below. I was having a panic attack! Specially after 3 plane crash within a week (MH17, TransAsia Airways flight 222 and Air Algerie flight 5017).
OK, let's not talk about plane accidents, it makes me shudder.

Hi, Mermaid !

Iceland
I don't know where to start my story about Iceland. Definitely one of most beautiful landscapes I've ever visited and it's on top of my 're-visit place' list. The people are genuinely nice and friendly, though during my trip I met more Icelandic horses than people, hehehe :p
If you follow my Instagram, you might have seen some of this pictures. Almost all hotels I stayed in Iceland have free wifi access in the room even in remote areas. So it was really easy for me updating and posting photos. Unlike in Paris where I stayed in Marriott Hotel and they charged me 15 for a 24 hours wifi connection. Blah.

Blue Lagoon

officially I'm qualified to drive a snow mobile now!

glacier cruise on an amphibious boat

double rainbows in Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe

met 5 humpback whales during a whale watching safari

Greenland
The land where there's more white (iceberg, glacier) than green! Did a walking tour through Kulusuk village, Jeep safari and Iceberg cruise. The view from my hotel (the only hotel in Kulusuk) was just breathtaking. I want to stay here longer....perhaps for 6 months? :)

pretty colourful houses in Kulusuk village

France
Back to Paris again after 15 years and I'm still not impressed with the city of love. I know all Paris lovers will shoot me on the head for saying this. But while it might be beautiful, I found this city way too crowded, complicated and dirty. Maybe I'm just being a weird person but I prefer to spend my day in Reims, a pretty little city in Champagne region. It was the best decision ever, I really had a great day exploring its amazing cathedral and one of champagne factory, the Pommery which have an interesting history.

Bonjour, Paris!

Cathedral De Reims

I've been sleeping a lot since I arrived in Singapore and doing a huge pile of laundry in my apartment. So I'll probably write a new post when I get home. Bis später!

  4. I heard that turbulence occurs more often over the Bay of Bengal, and I experienced it myself when I went to Sri Lanka. Anyway, seems like you had a really wonderful trip!
